MANAMA, BAHRAIN – 10 April 2021 – Ithmaar Bank, a Bahrain-based Islamic retail bank, announced today that two Bahraini’s, Rashed Dheyab Al Romaihi, father of four and Fahad Mohamed Abdulla, father of four, each won US$100,000 as part of Thimaar quarterly prizes.
The Thimaar Grand Prize draw was held remotely at the Bank’s headquarters in Seef district and was coordinated and supervised by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism (MOICT), as well as external auditors BDO Bahrain and the Bank’s own internal auditors.
“I am excited to win the quarterly prize of Thimaar, which is an extremely pleasant surprise for me,” said Rashed Al Romaihi. “I received a phone call from the Bank’s Branch Manager informing me that I won the prize. Frankly, it didn’t expect it and I hesitated to believe it,” he said.
“I’ve been banking with Ithmaar Bank for more than ten years,” said Rashed Al Romaihi. “I’ve seen the Bank, which has always played a pioneering role in the establishment and growth of Islamic banking in the region, grow over the years with ongoing success,” he said.
“I would like to thank the Bank for offering us so many chances of winning such valuable prizes,” said Fahad Abdulla. “We started saving with the Bank with the hope of winning one of the big prizes,” he said.
“I noticed that Thimaar account offers prizes to the highest number of winners, which was attractive for me. I would also like to highlight that the Bank provides many services to make customers’ banking transactions easier through the mobile application and online, especially during the pandemic. This made me encourage my friends and family to open new accounts with the Bank and to continue to save in prize-based saving accounts such as Thimaar account,” he said.
On behalf of all of us at Ithmaar Bank, I congratulate both Rashed Al Romaihi and Fahad Abdulla and their families on winning the Thimaar quarterly prizes. I would also like to take the opportunity to congratulate all other Thimaar winners of this month,” said Ithmaar Bank General Manager, Retail Banking Group, Mohammed Janahi.
“Thimaar savings account incentivises saving and investing for the future and we are truly honoured to be part of this journey with our customers,” said Janahi. The Thimaar scheme, offers the highest chances of winning of any comparable product in Bahrain, which is an extremely attractive prospect for savers,” he said.
“In line with the Bank’s customer-centric commitment to delivering a superior banking service, we are continuously improving our Thimaar savings account. We also noticed an obvious customer demand for increased chances to win large cash prizes for prize-based saving accounts, and we restructured Thimaar for the year 2021 accordingly,” said Janahi.
“Customers are able to win US$1 million grand prize, and six quarterly prizes worth US$100,000 each, along with many more cash prizes throughout the year. This makes Thimaar account one of the most rewarding saving schemes in the Kingdom,” he said.
Customers can now instantly open a Thimaar account directly from their mobile phones, without the need to physically visit a branch. Bahraini and non-Bahraini residents can now securely open new accounts in just a few minutes through Ithmaar Bank’s mobile application.
Thimaar, Arabic for fruits or harvest, is a prize-based saving account that Ithmaar Bank introduced to help encourage its customers to save. The Thimaar account was designed to encourage people to adopt a more responsible saving pattern by offering cash prizes, along with an expected profit rate.
Every BD30 maintained as an average balance qualifies Thimaar account holders to enter the monthly draws. The more customers save, and the longer they maintain balances in multiples of BD30, the more opportunities they have to win.
